Víkingur Ólafsson has become one of the most sought-after artists of today. He has released three albums, “Philip Glass Piano Works” (2017), “Johann Sebastian Bach” (2018), and “Debussy Rameau” (2020) on Deutsche Grammophon, for whom he is an exclusive recording artist.
Ólafsson’s multiple awards include the Opus Klassik Solo Recording Instrumental (2019, 2020), Album of the Year at the BBC Music Magazine Awards (2019), andGramophone magazine’s Artist of the Year (2019). The New York Times has dubbed him “Iceland’s Glenn Gould”, while the Daily Telegraph called him “the new superstar of classical piano.”
Ólafsson performs with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra; Cleveland Orchestra; Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia; San Francisco Symphony; New York Philharmonic; Camerata Salzburg; and Los Angeles Philharmonic. He also has a number of original projects, works as the artistic director of Vinterfest and Reykjavík Midsummer Music, and has created his own record label. Ólafsson’s next album will be released in 2021.
