Murat Karahan is the Administrative and Artistic Director General of State Opera and Ballet. This year, he will also perform the leading roles in Carmen at the Bolshoi Theatre and Cavalleria Rusticana in Salerno, Italy. He will be on stage for Aida and Turandot for the 2020 Arena di Verona Festival as well as for Cavalleria Rusticana as the opening performance of the festival.
Karahan has performed as part of renowned orchestras around the world, including the Accademia Santa Cecilia Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow, Latvian National Opera Orchestra, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, Tirana Symphony Orchestra, Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, and Presidential Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Turkey.
Karahan studied at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at Bilkent University with the State Artist Suna Korad, Professor Pekin Kırgız, and Gurcil Celiktas. He also obtained masters and doctorate degrees.
