Associate Professor Merve Özdemirkıran-Embel is a faculty member at Marmara University’s Faculty of Political Science in Istanbul. She earned her Ph.D. from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris) in June 2013. Her research focuses on transnational actors, the role of economic actors in international politics and foreign policy decision-making, state-building processes, and feminist international relations theory.
Dr. Özdemirkıran-Embel has conducted extensive fieldwork in the Middle East, particularly in Türkiye and Iraq. Between 2010 and 2013, she taught at Sciences Po Paris, and from 2013 to 2015, she served as a faculty member at Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul before joining her current institution.
