Mehmet Akif Okur Professor, Yıldız Technical University

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akif Okur graduated from Boğaziçi University’s Department of Political Science and International Relations. He previously served at Gazi University in the Department of International Relations, where he directed the GORAM Center for Central Asia and Middle East Studies. Since 2017, he has chaired the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Yıldız Technical University. His research focuses on international political economy, international relations theory, U.S. foreign policy, and the geopolitical and geoeconomic developments affecting Turkey and the Turkic world. Prof. Okur is widely published, with work examining deglobalization, regional power dynamics, and Turkey’s strategic position within a shifting international system.
