Eskild Petersen is an infectious disease specialist from Denmark, and chair of the ESCMID (European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) Task Force on Emerging Infections. He is Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Health Science, University of Aarhus Denmark and visiting Professor, Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Pavia, Italy. He spent 14 years at Statens Serum Institut, Copenhagen, before moving back into clinical infectious diseases in 2003 at the Aarhus University Hospital and later the Royal Hospital, Muscat, Oman. He served as a senior advisor to the Minister of Health, Oman, during the first phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.
