Barnett Rubin SENIOR FELLOW, CENTRE ON INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

Dr. Barnett R. Rubin is a Senior Fellow at CIC. Previously he was the Director of the Centre for Preventive Action, and Peace and Conflict Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. Rubin was Associate Professor of Political Science and the Director of the Centre for the Study of Central Asia at Columbia University. Before that, he was a Peace Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace and Assistant Professor at Yale University. Rubin was the Senior Adviser to the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan in the US Department of State. Rubin also served as special advisor to the UN for Afghanistan and subsequently advised the Assistance Mission.

Rubin received a PhD and MA from the University of Chicago and a BA from Yale University. He is the founder and chair of the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum. He was a founding member of the Executive Board of Human Rights Watch/Asia. He also served on the Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee. Rubin has published numerous articles, book reviews, and he is the author of several books.
