Prof. Dr. Ali Merthan Dündar was born in Ağrı in 1968. He graduated from Ankara University’s Faculty of Language, History, and Geography with a degree in Japanese Language and Literature in 1991. He went on to earn both his master’s and Ph.D. in History from Hacettepe University.
Currently, Prof. Dündar is a lecturer in the Department of Japanese Language and Literature at Ankara University. Since 2014, he has also served as the Director of the Asia-Pacific Studies Application and Research Centre (APAM). Throughout his career, he has been a guest researcher in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Azerbaijan. Prof. Dündar has authored 46 books and published 65 articles.
