A New Vision for Eurasia: The Global Rise of the Organisation of Turkic States

The rise of Eurasia has been a topic of ongoing discussion in recent years, with the emergence of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) now increasingly becoming a significant part of these debates. The Organisation reached a key milestone in November 2021 during its Istanbul summit, where it adopted the ‘Turkic World Vision 2040.’ This strategic document lays out a roadmap for achieving common goals, with particular focus on enhancing commercial and economic relations among its member states.

This growing cooperation and solidarity among the Turkic states, along with Türkiye’s rising role as a key agenda setter in the Eurasian landscape, has altered the dynamics for global powers. Both Russia and China, with their geopolitical and economic stakes in Central Asia, now face the question of whether this shift in the regional balance of power represents a threat or an opportunity for partnerships. For the Turkic states, this new vision of deeper cooperation offers an alternative path to achieving regional stability and prosperity.

This session will delve into the key strategies of the Organisation of Turkic States, examining the challenges they face as well as the prospects for future growth and cooperation in the Eurasian region.
